The 2021 Mazda CX-9 is available in five trim levels: Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring and Signature. Powering the CX-9 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel. With regular gas, those numbers drop slightly to 227 hp and 310 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. All-wheel drive is available.
Fuel economy is exceptional. The 2021 Mazda CX-9 delivers an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city/28 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and 20 mpg city/26 mpg highway with all-wheel drive.*
One reason the Mazda CX-9 handles so well is Mazda’s standard G-Vectoring Control Plus system. This setup keeps the CX-9 stable when the vehicle is cornering by applying light brake force to the outer wheels. Drivers looking for a little weekend off-road action will appreciate the new off-road traction assist button. This feature helps the CX-9 take on bumpy and uneven road surfaces. When the system detects the diagonal wheels are losing traction, it adds brake force and lowers torque to the wheels without grip.
Standard features in the base Sport trim include 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone automatic climate control, LED exterior lighting, automatic headlights, keyless entry and ignition, heated front seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
