2017 Mazda3 Named #1 Compact Vehicle

Mazda Logo

Mazda is starting off the New Year with a celebratory bang!  The 2017 Mazda3 was named #1 compact vehicle among 24 similar models, according to U.S. News & World Report.  That’s an impressive feat and testimony to Mazda’s commitment to excellence.  This top performance vehicle is available as a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback.  It’s stylish and sporty without being pretentious, yet the interior oozes a sophistication lacking in its counterparts.  You’ll find a large selection of the #1 ranking 2017 compact at #MazdaSalinas.

Available in four trim levels, including Sport, Touring, Touring 2.6 and Grand Touring, the 2017 Mazda3 runs on a standard 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower.  You’ll find that the upper trim levels offer a 2.5 liter, four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower, which translated means more power and faster acceleration.  The Mazda3 standard transmission is a 6-speed manual, with 6-speed automatic available as an option.   Fuel economy cited for the automatic transmission is 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway.  For those who like to drive fully engaged, the stick is the obvious, fun choice.

Both the sedan and hatchback models come equipped with 60/40 split-folding rear seats.  If you like hatchbacks, you’ll love the cargo space configuration for the 2017 Mazda3.  Behind its rear seats, the Mazda3 offers a modest 20.2 cubic feet of storage capacity.  However, with the rear seats folded down, you’ll discover an astonishing 47.1 cubic feet, more than doubling its cargo space.  Keep in mind that this is more than most of its compact competitors can offer.

Other attractive features include an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen that is easy to use.  Bluetooth and Pandora internet radio are also included. You can add on a safety package, i-Activsense, which includes new features including a camera to detect pedestrians and a system that recognizes road signs.  Also new for the 2017 Mazda3 models is G-Vectoring Control, a steering response mechanism being credited for its precise steering capability.

If you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable ride with versatile cargo accommodations, take a ride in the 2017 Mazda3.  Discover for yourself why it’s the #1 compact vehicle.  Your new Mazda3 is waiting for you at the Salinas Auto Mall.  Not in the market for a 2017 model?  Check out our Salinas used car selection.  If we don’t have what you want on our lot, our Sales team will be glad to locate it for you. Let’s admit it, the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF looks like it belongs in Gotham City.  It’s easy to imagine the convertible with the retractable hardtop as a modern-day Batmobile.  It’s definitely shaking up the automotive world, as pre-sale orders are skyrocketing for the stunning new version.  Expected to arrive on lots in February 2017, there are already some models in the U.S. now.

Sports car enthusiasts and collectors alike are going to love the sleek and sexy MX-5 Miata RF.  For starters, the “RF” refers to retractable fastback, an astonishing power-folding mechanism that retracts in about 12 seconds.  For aesthetics, you can’t miss the pair of flying buttresses on the rear, designed to accommodate the retractable hardtop.  We can only utter, “Holy smokes, Batman!”

This latest MX-5 Miata RF is so hardcore that it possesses exciting dual personalities.  With the hardtop up, it resembles a sports coupe comparable to a Porsche.  Put the hardtop down and you’ve got yourself a roadster capable of stopping people dead in their tracks as they stare in either awe or envy.  If you dare, consider blaring Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” anthem.

What’s New In 2017 For The Mazda6

Mazda6 coupe 3

Looking for a family-friendly, sleek sedan boasting peak performance and fuel economy?  Your best bet is the 2017 Mazda6.  It’s eye candy—a mid-sized sedan with four doors and an interior that emphasizes what Mazda does best. It makes it look and feel rich without a staggering price tag.  New changes abound for the 2017 model.

The most exciting change includes G-Vectoring Control, a concept designed to address steering response.  The “G” stands for g-force or the force of gravity.  The faster the change in speed, the more one feels the gravitational effect.  The idea behind G-Vectoring Control is to reduce power to the engine as the vehicle makes turns, transferring weight to the front tires.  This helps make the turns seamless or smoother. Yet the reduction in torque is so subtle that you’ll barely notice.  Despite being barely discernible, G-Vectoring Control is expected to significantly improve vehicle handling on slick road conditions.

Also new in 2017 are a couple of new additions to the i-Activsense suite of safety features.  First is the newly installed Forward Sensing camera, capable of recognizing pedestrians that emerge into the path of the Mazda6.  It’s designed to avoid or alleviate pedestrian impact.  Another new feature to i-Activsense is its ability to recognize traffic signs.  Just think, no more running Stop signs!

Within the interior, new improvements include a heated steering wheel, leather-simulated seats and noise suppression.  For the latter, Mazda went back to the drawing board and implemented tighter seals on the doors, added thicker auto glass in the front doors, and boosted sound insulation.  The end result is quieter noise on the inside.

Mazda 2 beauty and pretty face mazda6

There’s also a new trim offering in 2017.  Joining the Mazda6 lineup is Grand Touring, featuring leather seats in your choice of black or off-white and heated rear seats.  Other trim levels include Sport Manual, Sport Automatic, Touring Manual and Touring Automatic.  With a 2.5 liter, four-cylinder SKYACTIV engine, the Mazda6 fuel economy cited is 26 city and 35 highway.

For those that prefer a sedan, the 2017 Mazda6 offers the latest in technology, with an impressive slate of safety features.  Give it a try, and discover the Mazda magic. Come to #MazdaSalinas, and catch the wave of excitement. While you’re here, maybe you’d like to check out a Mazda CX-3 or Miata.  We’ve got a vehicle to suit every need and budget.  Visit our website at www.cardinalemazda.com for all your automotive needs.

The Mazda Miata Emerges Victorious In Class Showdown

Mazda miata 8

For a taste of a sports car that isn’t just a typical muscle car, roadsters are the best way to go. Roadsters are crafted to be enjoyable to drive, and really let you experience the open air more, thanks to their tops. The Mazda MX-5 Miata and the Fiat 124 Spider are two of the most well-known members of this class, and while both offer fine features, pcworld.com put both though several tests to determine which car reigned supreme.

The #Miata and the Fiat Spider have been in competition for several years, but which one offers the most to drivers? A quick look at the two cars reveals a few exterior differences, including 5 extra inches and 104 more pounds for the Spider. The sharper aesthetic with more pointed headlamps and streamlined bumper fits the Miata well, while the Spider has a more classic appeal. A look on the inside will reveal a very similar interior, with both models showing incredible detail in the edging and leather seats.

A nice drive down a country road or the highway is the best way to contrast two cars. Two different drivers piloted both cars in pcworld.com’s tests, and gave insightful feedback. They were split on the looks of the cars, but the performance on the road is where the #Miata showed its dominance. The MX-5 Miata created a far more enjoyable driving experience and as one driver simply explained it, “I liked the 2017 Fiat 127 Spider a lot. I liked the 2016 MX-5 Miata better.”

Mazda Engineers Unveil The Latest Developments In Safety Technology

Mazda 2

One of the most important parts of driving is your safety, which has always been a number one priority at Mazda. Throughout all of our award-winning history, Mazdas like the CX-5 and Mazda6 have been highly praised for their safety measures.  These measures  have had a real impact in lowering the number of accidents. Safety superiority is still a priority for Mazda in 2017 with the development of G-Vectoring control and numerous new programs.

When driving on the road, oversteering can cause accidents on every turn, so G-Vectoring control was designed to correct for this. Every movement of the wheel is tracked on each turn you take, and the system can then electronically correct for turning too quickly or sharply, which can wear out tires and cause a loss of control. The software also helps reduce the impact of slick spots on the road due to water or oil by slightly shifting the car’s weight distribution. If a tire is about to lose grip of the road, more weight can be put on to keep traction constant.

Mazda CX-5 3

The numerous other safety features on the CX-5 have helped it be named an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Only 38 cars received this honor this year, and Mazdas were praised for features like Smart City Brake, Lane Departure Warnings and Lane Keep Assist systems. The #SmartCityBrake will activate at city speeds and can stop the car to avoid an impending forward collision. Both the Lane Departure Warnings and Lane Keep Assist programs work in tandem to prevent you from drifting into another lane by using simple alerts.

Discover more about each and every one of these features by talking with our knowledgeable sales team at Cardinale Mazda. Our Salinas used car dealership has all the 2017 models in stock, including the new Mazda CX-3. Mazda Finds New Method Of Bringing Color To Cars

Mazda Logo

Several parts on every car can be rotated out and customized to fit your needs and wants. Different trim packages can let you change anything from the motor to the type and size of the wheels. Sport packages change the handling and acceleration, while tech packages can add safety programs and new selections for the infotainment system. No matter the trim level you select, deciding on a paint color will always be an important choice, and in order to protect that color Mazda has a new biomaterial.

Any car out on the open road and exposed to the elements will suffer damage to the paint over time. In harsher environments especially, scratches and fading will slowly appear, leading to a damaged and dull appearance. Thanks to joint research with Mitsubishi Chemical, Mazda patented a bio-engineering plastic from a compound that exists in plant matter. This new plastic will be a much better option to the current mix of metals and other materials that currently make up car bodies.

Mazda Paint

Every facet of this new material is ideal for a car body; it is strong enough to meet safety standards, and is able to resist scratching and damage from the elements. The plastic itself can be finished in a wide selection of colors, which means no painting is necessary. This reduces paint emissions and will save you money on having to polish and touch up areas that have been damaged.

Several vehicles in Japan are already making great use of this #bioplastic.
