Regularly Check Your Vehicle’s Tire Pressure

As part of your routine auto maintenance, you should regularly check your tire pressure.  It is particularly important when there is a change of seasons.  Colder weather mean your tires may lose their pressure.  Conversely, warmer weather could cause your tire pressure to increase.  Overinflated and underinflated tires will wear out quicker and adversely affect fuel economy.  Tires that are not properly inflated may also create adverse handling conditions making for a difficult or even unsafe ride.

 

To check your tire pressure, keep a tire pressure gauge in your glove compartment and use it to check each tire’s pressure.  Refer to your vehicle owner’s manual for the recommended tire pressure.  If the tire pressure gauge shows that a tire is underinflated, add enough air to reach the recommended pressure.  On the other hand, if you have a tire that is over inflated, you will need to release some of that air to reduce the pressure.

The Pros…

There is no quarrel that Mazda has perfected the soft-top Mazda MX-5 Miata. What’s not to love about the lightweight two-seater roadster that expertly hugs the curves and embraces the open air?  However, those salivating to test drive and own the hard-top 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF point out that the exterior is more masculine and coupe-like with the awe-inspiring flying buttresses with a rich interior that puts it in the same category as a luxury Porsche.  It just oozes more sex appeal, if it’s possible that a vehicle can even make such a egotistical claim.

 

… and the Cons

The retractable fastback hard-top of the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF doesn’t come without baggage.  The additional 110 pounds of the metal hardtop are a concern to those who argue that it may adversely affect the seamless handling of the Miata.  Also, you can expect to pay more for the hardtop, possibly as much as $2,600 and upward.  As with any dramatically re-engineered version, we’ll need more time to judge whether it can live up to the expectations and win over the legions of hardcore fans of its soft-top counterpart, the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

CardinaleWay Mazda Salinas is proud to support local causes, and we encourage everyone to come out on March 5, 2017 to the Hyatt Regency Monterey from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to celebrate the talents of local high school bands from Monterey and Pacific Grove.  The March Jazz Fling, presented by the Music Boosters of both high schools and hosted by Hyatt Regency, will raise funds for the bands.  The hotel is located at 1 Old Golf Course Road in Monterey, California.

Mazda To Introduce Diesel Engine In 2017 For CX-5 And Mazda3

Comparing Apples And Oranges — Not Really!

For a brief understanding of how gasoline and diesel engines work, Green Car Reports notes that the difference is in how the engines are ignited.  Gasoline engines are started with spark plugs. However, diesel engines rely on a compression system.  It used to be that diesel engines were considered dirty or noisy, but that is no longer the case with recent technological advances.  Mazda technology uses a homogeneous-charge compression system.  Already, there are projections that Mazda’s diesel engine may experience as much as a 30 percent increase in fuel economy compared to a gasoline engine.

 

More Diesel Engines In Madza Vehicles In The Future

Mazda plans to try out the new diesel engine in the compact Mazda3 before it is introduced in the 2017 Mazda CX-9.  That’s likely due to marketing strategy.  Depending on how well it is received by the automotive industry, it’s quite possible that other models may be adapted to feature a diesel engine as well.
