Let Us Entertain You With Mazda’s Infotainment System

Mazda Connect  Technology is changing daily and its impact can be felt in the automotive sector.  We’ve run the gamut from station wagons to crossover SUVs and electric cars.  Even the way we travel in automobiles has changed over the years, especially in terms of communication and entertainment.

It used to be that longer trips with children onboard required a lengthy rendition of “Ninety-Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall” or automobile bingo and license plate games.  How often did parents hear, “Are we there yet?”  No longer is that the case, thanks to connectivity advances in today’s vehicles.  Adults and teens can now enjoy their Smartphones and tablets.  The younger set can also pass the time during commutes with iPads and iPods or watch videos on LCD entertainment centers.  If your device battery runs low, you can just plug it into the car charger.

What did we ever do without cell phones when we had a flat tire, became lost, ran out of gas, or realized we forgot to pick up a child from soccer practice?  Paper maps and road atlases are quickly becoming a thing of the past because we have simple-to-use GPS navigation on our Smartphones or on our dashboards.

In terms of musical choices, we’ve gone from AM/FM radio, 8-track tape cartridges, cassette tape players and CDs to the latest Bluetooth music streaming and Pandora radio in our vehicles.  The recent craze is now carpool karaoke (see James Corden YouTube videos) in which you can sing along to your favorite artists’ hit songs.  Riding in a car has never been more fun or engaging.

Mazda has stepped up to the challenge of providing its driver with an Infotainment System in its vehicles.  This includes Mazda Connect, a Bluetooth application for Smartphones, GPS navigation, internet radio such as Pandora, and other apps.  The 7-inch touchscreen that is mounted on the dashboard can be activated by touch or voice recognition.

It’s an ever-growing challenge to keep ahead of the technological advances. However, Mazda continues to evolve and embrace new concepts in the auto industry.  Recent reports are that Mazda may be moving towards Android connectivity for its next round of models, presumably in 2018.
