Although Johnny Herbert is credited for Mazda’s legendary win at the 1991 Le Mans race car in the 787B race car, less is known of the other drivers who helped Mazda to become the first Japanese manufactuerer to win the world-famous 24-hour endurance race. Although Herbert is known and remembered for his legendary Le Mans race win and nine F1 Grand Prix victories, at the time, Bertrand Gachot is also a very important figure; in only his second racing season, he had taken titles in both the European Formula Ford 1600 series and the British Formula Ford 2000 Championship.
