We are so fortunate to have the John Steinbeck Public Library, located at 350 Lincoln Avenue, the Cesar Chavez Library, located at 615 Williams Road, and the El Gabilan Library, located at 1400 North Main Street – all in Salinas! There’s a world of exciting adventures and fascinating information within the pages of countless books found in our local libraries. Reading stimulates the mind, library memberships are free and there’s no better way to spend your down time than relaxing with a good book!

There’s No Shortage Of Activities At Our Local Libraries
Check with each of these libraries for a calendar listing of the programs offered. For instance, the John Steinbeck Public Library hosts Toddler Tales (story time for toddlers ages 3 and under) every Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m., and for John Steinbeck aficionados, they have a large collection of his literary works. For parents looking for something for their kids to do this summer, consider signing them up at Cesar Chavez Library for Summer Science Camp. For kids ages 8 through 12, camp will be held August 7 – 11 and features an assortment of fun activities such as whale watching, swimming and learning about our galaxies far, far away. There’s also Board Game Night at the Cesar Chavez Library—fun for the entire family—as you match wits against others playing your favorite board games like Scrabble, chess or checkers!

Check Out An Armload Of Books
Get started on your summer reading list by checking out an armload of books for yourself or the family at one of the Salinas public libraries. Ask your librarian for recently released titles or suggested children’s favorites. Get the latest John Grisham or James Patterson thriller or Sara Paretsky murder mystery. Don’t forget to check out the great selection of audiobooks to play in the car while commuting to work.
