The Mazda SUV bearing the model name CX-3 MAXX AWD has won among a total of 180 cars the much coveted RACQ 2015 Judge’s Choice award in Australia’s Best Car competition. The car was adjudged the winner in 15 categories.

The clinching factor for the Mazda CX-3 was the vehicle’s safety features. Other than the Mazda CX-3, the Hyundai Genesis won the best big car under the $70,000 price range. This accolade was given to this Hyundai model in part due to the excellent record breaking safety parameters. The safety features of Volvo XC90 also ensured that it drove away with the award given to the best luxury AWD SUV. The award for the best medium car segment over $50,000 went to the Mercedes Benz C 200. The car monitors the distraction of the driver and also the fatigue of the person behind the steering wheel.

With the increase of motorists, the rate of accidents are also rising every year. According to the police, the safety features of vehicles do make a measurable impact on the road. Since the median age of vehicle ownership is about 10 years, it follows that a lot of people in the near future will purchase new vehicles. It is strongly recommended that buyers should first go through the safety features- exactly what these awards recognize. The awards by RACQ for the best car of the said year are generally announced in November of same year. The 2015 competition was however delayed until the earlier part of 2016 thanks to Volkswagen pollution scandal.
