Despite Volkswagen’s diesel emissions scandal, Mazda is still optimistic regarding its diesel engine in the U.S. market. The automaker believes that introducing its diesel engine will bring the brand closer to European luxury in the U.S. market and it will differentiate the brand from other Japanese automakers. Senior vice president of U.S. operations for Mazda Robert Davis stated, “If we look at competitors in diesel in the U.S., its primarily luxury, and its primarily European luxury.” By coming to the level of European luxury, Mazda will have the ability to raise its brand value. Mazda has yet to confirm when its diesel engine will be introduced, but Cardinale Mazda will inform you of any word that comes from the automaker. Mazda is in the midst of creating an engine that meets U.S. emissions standards, but still offers incredible performance.
