Why Mazda’s Plans For A Diesel Market In The U.S. Might Be A Brilliant Move

In a year that has seen Mazda’s worldwide sales volume increase by 1.6%, U.S. sales failed to increase.  However, Mazda has a plan that may help increase future U.S. sales, namely making a diesel-powered CX-5 available to U.S. markets. We’re excited about this at Cardinale Mazda in Salinas.

Diesel-Powered Mazda Vehicles Sell Briskly In Other Countries

There is a global pattern developing of increasing sales of Mazda vehicles equipped with a diesel engine.  For example, Mazda sales of diesel-powered CX-5s in Japan is roughly 74% and it’s 58% in Europe.  In the U.S., of course, there have been zero sales of diesel-powered Mazda units simply because of its unavailability.  Mazda has plans to shake up its global sales with a goal of increasing sales by 50,000 units.

CX-5 Is The Perfect Choice For Debut Of Diesel Engine In U.S.

It’s no secret that the most popular Mazda vehicle in the U.S. is currently the CX-5 crossover SUV.  Sales are continuing to climb with the recent release of the 2017 Mazda CX-5.  So it’s a perfect fit to introduce a diesel-powered Mazda CX-5 since it’s already a well-received and top-selling Mazda vehicle.  What are some of the other Mazda models that we might be seeing in the U.S. in the not-too-distant future with diesel engines?  The obvious choices are the CX-9, Mazda 6, and the CX-3.  The diesel revolution may just be beginning in the U.S., but it’s sure to be a brilliant move for Mazda!
