Meet the Designers of the MX-5 Miata

Meet the Designers of the MX-5 Miata As you have probably heard, this year marks the Mazda Miata’s 25th anniversary and Mazda has released an anniversary model in its honor. Twenty-five years ago, an architect and visionary joined forces and introduced the world to a car that has outlived every trend and economic downfall in the past quarter century – Bob Hall, the visionary, hired Tom Matano, the architect many years ago and together they designed a beautiful vehicle. Tom was the design chief who helped create the template that would become the world’s favorite roadster. “When people ask me if I ever expected the Miata to still be around some 25 years later I have to reply: ‘If you want me to be truthful, well yes.’ I knew even early on that I was working on something that would one day become a legend.” At the same time, Bob was the product planner for the MX-5 Miata and the man who sold the idea of a lightweight sports car to Mazda. “I cannot say I was certain the Mazda MX-5 Miata would be around for a quarter century, but I was positive the idea had legs, because the concept of a lightweight sports car was then, and is now, both relevant and desirable.” If you would like to read more about the creators of the Mazda Miata, please click on the link below:
