All Signs Point To A Mazda Electric Vehicle By 2019

Some argue that the automotive industry is experiencing sluggish sales with an uncertain future.  However, it appears quite the contrary for what the future holds if what we’re hearing is any indication.  Electric vehicles, driverless cars, flying vehicles and all the exciting new infrastructure that will be necessary is the stuff that drives the imagination wild with the “what ifs?”  We’re approaching a time in our world that was once perceived as cartoonish.  Thanks to The Jetsons, we now have Facetime and soon, flying vehicles.  Just imagine the impact this will have on Wall Street from stock offerings from all the innovative companies that get onboard with this latest technology.

Mazda Ready To Enter The EV Market

According to Inside EVs, Mazda has plans to enter the EV market by the year 2019.  This was hinted by Matsuhiro Tanaka, the European R&D executive at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.  He indicated that a small EV is being envisioned as Mazda’s first offering in the EV market.  This makes sense – to start with a smaller model and perfect it first.  Mazda typically does an exceptional job with the engineering design that goes into producing their Zoom-Zoom vehicles.  We look forward to an EV from Mazda, because we love how much fun it is to drive a Mazda and can only imagine what’s in store with a Mazda EV!

Mazda Plug-In Hybrid To Follow In 2021

It’s anticipated that more EVs from Mazda will follow, including a plug-in hybrid expected to debut in 2021.  Already there are reports that Mazda is working closely with Toyota and has sourced its hybrid technology for the Mazda3.  This is a somewhat unusual move to see automotive competitors joining forces, but it’s exciting nonetheless.
