Mazda engineers developed a SKYACTIV-Body which features high rigidity and lightness – the framework is eight percent lighter and thirty percent more rigid. The overall crash safety performance of vehicles with a SKYACTIV-Body meet the top criteria for crash safety assessments in all markets. Mazda was able to improve crash safety performance by adopting a multi-load path structure. This structure absorbs the load at the time of a crash by dispersing it in multiple directions – the same multi-load path approach was adopted for individual parts.
