The CX-7 to Return as the Koeru Part III

CX-7

Mazda is determined to scale the heights and make its presence felt in the premium market. The latest from the Mazda stable, the Koeru (the upgraded CX-7) promises to do so. The Mazda Koeru is unlike any other crossover vehicle available in the market.

Although not much has been revealed to the public about the interiors of the Koeru, it is believed to have a futuristic cabin. In all probability, the car will include some features that have not yet been seen in any other Mazda car. It is quite certain that the Koeru will make slight alterations to the dashboard and the center stack.

The Mazda Koeru uses engines designed with the latest SkyActiv technology. It makes the car a lot more fuel efficient. The Koeru is fitted with a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine. Car and Driver reports suggest that the Koeru can also be fitted with a turbo four cylinder that is being used in the upcoming 2016 Mazda3 MPS.

The Koeru is touted to be a high performance vehicle. It is also a significantly quieter vehicle because it uses the breakthrough NVH technology. The technology is designed to quell the noise and vibration path. The SkyActiv and NVH technologies enable the midsize SUV to deliver a high quality and refined driving experience.

The CX-7 to Return as the Koeru Part – II

CX-7

The Mazda Koeru, the latest concept car, is believed to go into production soon. It is, in all likelihood, based on the now discontinued 2010 Mazda CX-7 model. Reports suggest that the Koeru is going to be a crossover midsized SUV.

The exteriors of the Koeru represent a very sporty design. The model has been based on the KODO style design which has been made famous by most Mazda cars. The front portion has massive shield shaped grilles. The muscular looking front fenders are accompanied by lean and stylish headlamps.

The rear fascia has smaller taillights and larger exhaust outlets in the rear bumper. The sloping roof and tailgate make the crossover look like a coupe. The blacked out pillars also look very stylish. The thinner headlamps, aggressive front bumper, and the rear fascia give the car its sporty look. The wheels are bigger and have a special design.

At first look, the car seems to have a very similar design to the 2016 Mazda CX-3 and CX-5 models. The Koeru measures 181.1 inches in length. It is longer than the CX-5 by 2.4 inches and shorter than the CX-7 by 3 inches . Although Koeru is rumored to be the next generation CX-9, it is much shorter than an actual SUV. Thus it is called a midsize SUV.

The CX-7 to Return as the Koeru Part – I

CX-7

Mazda has, in recent years, redesigned all its vehicles by using the KODO design language and SkyActiv engines that are very fuel efficient. Its new concept car, based on the 2010 CX-7, is going to make a comeback in the market. Named the Mazda Koeru, the concept car was presented to the world for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015.

Koeru, in Japanese, means ‘to exceed’ or ‘go beyond’. The Koeru has been launched to take over the crossover SUV market. Mazda, with its latest vehicle, is aiming to go beyond the existing standards of performance, efficiency and value. If reports are to be believed, the Koeru is going to be a midsize SUV.

The Koeru boasts of a sporty design. It looks very similar to the 2016 Mazda CX-3 and CX-5 crossovers. The NVH technology used in the model makes it a significantly quieter car. But Mazda is yet to make the technical details of the production model officially available to the public.

Yet another vehicle with a KODO design is excellent news. With the launch of the Koeru in the markets, Mazda aims to inch closer to the premium market. Although the Mazda CX-7 2010 was discontinued in two years due to poor sales, the Koeru is expected to be quite a success.

When Will The G-Vectoring Technology Reach The Mazda MX-5 Miata?

MX5 Miata for 2016

Mazda has recently revealed that it has no plans to add the newly developed and Mazda patented G-Vectoring Control (GVC) technology to the already impressive technology suite of the MX-5 Miata anytime soon.

Mazda Australia boss Martin Benders, in a recent interview to Car Advice has revealed that MX-5 is not at the top of the contention to receive the much hyped technology although many had expected the best-selling sports convertible coupe to be one of the most suitable candidates to receive the technology upgrade. Mr. Benders also said that this is a perfect example of Mazda rolling out a technology as soon as it becomes fully functional.

When asked by the interviewer why the technology was not made available directly on the 2016 Mazda 3 model which will be launched soon in Australia but revealed through a standalone road test in America, Martin Benders said that GVC is Mazda patented technology and they wanted their customers to experience it as soon as possible.

Mazda’s fame SkyActiv engine forms the core of the GVC technology which means that theoretically, an MX-5 is perfectly capable of being homologated with this technology in the American market which doesn’t have the best roads especially on the countryside and in the counties. Benders reasoned that it made more sense to add this technology to less advanced road cars than a supercar like Miata. These cars have less optimal CG and weight than a Miata and GVC could improve the driving experience radically on these cars and reduce driver fatigue as a lot less wheel correction is required. It would also reduce lateral and vertical forces on the car and increase smoothness of a ride.

To know more about the technology, talk to us today at Cardinale Mazda.

The Mazda CX-9 Is One of the Most Eagerly Awaited Cars of the Year in Australia-II

CX9

Mazda CX-9, the 7-seater SUV with three rows would soon make an official entry in the auto scene in Australia. A lot is expected from the car in terms of performance and creature comforts. Looking at the test models, it does seem that Mazda has made a fine job out of the car and it can become of their best selling models.

The car gets a number of standard safety kits and equipments like blind-spot monitoring, rear- cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, proactive emergency brakes which also works in the reverse gear and six full sized airbags. Keyless entry and push-button start are standard across all trims of the model.

The car has ample space- headroom and legroom in the cabin. The second has a 60:40 seat layout which are foldable. The legroom has been improved in the middle. Ingress and egress into the third row has become much easier thanks to the sliding and tilting second row seat. It is also very spacious although children would find themselves most comfortable at the back. The third row however doesn’t get HVAC vents, available on some competing models. The second row vents are comfortable and have their individual heating and fan controls.

Top-tether points are available at the back two rows and ISOFIX child safety arrangement can be made in the second row.

The new model will be shorter in terms of body length and height but it will be a bit wider. The boot will also be a tad shorter but it will be enough to accommodate two full-sized suitcases. Outside noise has been reduced considerably. It has impressive power and torque delivery also. The 25 liter turbocharged gasoline engine can produce a max power of 127 bhp @5000 rpm and a max torque of 310 ft-lb @2000rpm. There are no paddle shifters on any of the trims!

Overall, the car is very impressive and can meet many of the market demands. To know more, call us at Cardinale Mazda.

The Mazda CX-9 Is One of the Most Eagerly Awaited Cars of the Year in Australia-I

CX9

After a much talked about debut in America this spring, the Mazda CX-9 SUV will soon make its appearance in Australia this summer. The anticipation is fever pitch and Mazda finally has a large SUV that can challenge the hegemony of Toyota Kluger (petrol)/ Toyota Fortuner (diesel), Holden Captiva and Kia Sorento among others. Looking at the feature list, the competitive price especially of the base Sport trim, the company seems to got ingredients right this time. Outside or inside, the car has gone through a number of changes and each has made it more appealing and user friendly than the outgoing model.

Mazda has thoughtfully added a number of safety and technology features as standard. This does improve ride experience even in the base model and the gap between the top trim and the base is not that conspicuous. There are a number of luxury items on the base model as well. The leather-wrapped steering wheel with mounted cruise, audio and Bluetooth controls, the dazzling center console with piano black trimming, the tab-like dash mounted audio/video screen, the textured dash and the elegant finish on the door panels and arm rests are all very attractive.

The apple of the eye has to be the very stylish media screen on the center stack with Mazda Connect infotainment system. The screen in the base model is 7 inches in size while that in higher trims is 8 inches. There is a rotary dial on the center console as a backup for the intuitive touchscreen. The base version however doesn’t get Apple Carplay or Siri. There are no power windows at the back and it also doesn’t get automatic wipers and lights. The car however has a number of USB ports, both at the front and the middle rows.

You can test drive a Mazda CX-9 today by walking in to Cardinale Mazda showroom.

Supplemental Restraint System Airbags are Standard in All Mazda Cars

Mazda Logo

Mazda has always prioritized one aspect of driving over everything else- that is the safety of the passengers in its cars. Despite its impressive array of technologies that can easily rival any in the world, it has never lost sight of its duties towards its passengers. Most of the cars in the world including Mazda cars offer technological packages which include such features as forward collision mitigation, blind spot detection, intuitive emergency brakes, lane keeping assist, lane changing warning system and rear crossing traffic. Some high end cars offer these features as standard too.

Although these technologies have reduced the chances of collision and impact, it still remains one of the biggest hazards of driving. As a result, airbags are being improved and upgraded with the latest technologies. Airbags were not present in cars till 1970s. In the 1980s, a handful of manufacturers realized the importance of airbags in mitigating the impact of a crash or a collision although it was not standard.

Only at the start of the new millennium did car manufacturers and safety regulatory authorities understand the importance of airbags and they became standard. Initially, some cars were offering airbags as a replacement for seat-belts. Now, it is has been proven that an airbag can extenuate an impact properly if it is working in conjunction with a properly fitted seat belt. Hence the name- supplemental restraint system was introduced.

The frontal airbag for the driver is deployed from the steering wheel and that of the front passenger comes out from the dashboard. It is deployed if a frontal impact is sensed and tries to provide cushion to the head and chest of the front passenger and driver.

There is still not enough protection available for side impact collisions. So, SRS side impact airbags are extremely important. Mazda provides curtain and front side airbags to lessen side impact. The SRS curtain airbag is deployed from the ceiling of the car if the car computer detects a severe or moderate side crash and tries to cover the side window so as to protect impact to the head. The front side impact SRS airbag tries to protect the chest. It is usually launched from the side of the driver or front passenger seat.

One important point is that an SRS airbag works effectively only if you are wearing your seat belt properly. So, don’t drive or ride without your seat-belt. Have a safe ride!

KODO-Soul of Motion Human-Centric Design Is Mazda’s Gift to the World

Cardinale Mazda 3

Mazda treats every car as a creation of superior art. It is more than just a sheet of metal and an engine. Mazda tries to imbue a soul in the car so that the driver can connect with the car at an emotional level. Mazda’s human-centric designs and principles try to turn the driver and the car in a single system. The connection happens through a single axis. The driver is always at command and the car responds with equal passion.

The KODO-Soul of Motion design language was born from a similar principle. It tries to emulate a swooping or an attacking beast which acts instinctively. This design concept embodies the dynamic beauty of life.

Mazda originates from Hiroshima, a place which is famous for its craftsmen. They try to instill a life or a soul in their creation. The level of perfection and finesse in these creations are unbelievable. Mazda tries to follow their passion and style. That is the reason why clay craftsmen, master painters, fabricators, designers get so much importance at Mazda even in this digital age. The design is not just left to computer simulations. It is perfected through numerous attempts at crafting clay replicas of the original design. Each of the sinuous lines on the body represents vitality of life. Mazda designers obsess over the ultimate form of beauty and that is what sets them apart.

Mazda follows a process called “Exploratory Preparation”. They constantly experiment and try to incorporate different art forms and styles into a car design and see if it makes the beholder emotional or not. The design has to reach the core of the heart of the buyer. The design was first introduced in 2010 in the Shinari concept sedan.

Since, it represents the soul of motion, this design language can also be imbued in other works of creation. Mazda proved it when they unveiled a chair made using KODO at the Milan Expo.

For a better understanding of KODO, meet one of our representatives at Cardinale Mazda.

Mazda’s Idling Stop Technology Improves Engine Efficiency and Fuel Economy

Mazda Logo

Drivers are always told that they should turn off the car engine when they stop at red lights or for other emergency stops. But a lot of drivers don’t follow the advice simply because they think the engines uses up too much fuel when starting from the idle position and there is noise and considerable pollution as well.

Mazda’s idling stop technology or i-stop offers a smart solution for the problem. An idling stop system is a smart choice for cars because it automatically turns off the engine when a car is at rest and ignites the engine back to life as soon as it detects motion. As a result, it saves a lot of fuel.

Mazda’s i-stop system

Mazda uses i-stop system in its cars to improve fuel economy without compromising the natural feel of driving. It can restart an idling engine rapidly and the operation is barely noticeable. It feels totally natural.

How i-stop works in gasoline engines?

Mazda’s i-stop restarts gasoline engines through direct combustion. It is different from conventional idling stop/restart systems which use a starter motor for the purpose of restarting the engine. In this case however, gasoline is permeated into a cylinder as soon as the engine stops and at the time of restart downward piston force is generated through ignition. The restart is quick and noiseless. There is also significant saving of fuel and the stress level on the engine is minimal.

How i-stop works in diesel engines?

To start an idle diesel engine, the engine has to compress the air-fuel mixture until it ignites spontaneously. For this purpose, sufficient compression has to be generated in a diesel engine. Unlike most diesel engine idling stop systems which require two engine cycles to restart, Mazda i-stop uses just one. This is made possible by the precise piston positions when the engine is turned off. The result is arguably the fastest diesel engine restart in the world. The entire operation is smooth and so effortless that it is hardly noticeable. There is almost no vibration or noise.

The acceleration is also steady in Mazda cars even at low rpms. Test-drive a Mazda car today at Cardinale Mazda.

Heritage of Mazda- Putting Passion and Innovation at the Heart of Business- II

Mazda 2 mazda6 sedan balanced ride with exceptional handling

Mazda is driven by a group of passionate people who work for the “fun” rather than any “pecuniary consideration”. As a result, Mazda never compromises on customer convenience. It delivers what it must every time without fail. That way, it is one of the most reliable carmakers in the world. It has seen many crises of the worst form but its attitude or policy to business has never changed. It has an unwavering resoluteness and purpose in its actions- to create maximum value for its patrons.

Take Mazda’s SkyActiv technology for instance. Today, it is considered cutting edge but it has had to overcome many obstacles and challenges on its path to glory. Towards the turn of the century, diesel engines were thought to be in the last lap because of the high production cost, huge dimension posing challenges to designers to fit it under small car hoods, poor performance and most importantly because of their polluting credentials. Mazda decided to fight this negative perception. It created the remarkable SkyActiv-D diesel engines which are so good in terms of optimal performance and low emissions that it has won over admirers even in a country like Japan which has traditionally been against diesel engines.

Today, SkyActiv-D is the only diesel engine which is absolutely clean and has high rev range like petrol engines. It was achieved only after the company succeeded in lowering the compression ratio by reducing the weight of the body parts of the engine. Initially, there was a lot of skepticism but once they succeeded, the world embraced the technology most eagerly. It met emission standards without the use of expensive NOx after-treatment devices, keeping the car affordable.  To know more, call the agents at Cardinale Mazda.
