In the top of the Consumer Reports annual brand report card, Japanese auto brands took four of the top five places. Mazda Motor Corp was second and the best finisher among non-luxury brands; Toyota came in third and was followed by Audi. The report comes as a result of Consumer Reports subscribers who rated 1.1 million vehicles in the annual auto survey. Mazda, which improved from sixth place the year before—with a solid lineup of cars that are reliable, fun-to-drive, and deliver impressive fuel economy. Mazda finally confirmed the horsepower of the upcoming 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. The total output of the 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G engine will deliver a total of 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque – the same output as the Mazda3. At the Chicago Auto Show, Mazda unveiled its Accessories Concept Miata, but people were seemed to be more interested in what a Mazda spokesperson mentioned, almost as an aside, regarding the upcoming roadster. Despite Mazda claiming that the vehicle weighs nearly 200 pounds less than the previous model and the SKYACTIV-G engine would be specially tuned for the upcoming model, the automaker will not deliver more power and performance than its previous version. Mazda’s Contingency Awards Program announced a few changes that have taken place within its program aimed to better serve Mazda racers in all categories. This program is considered to be one of the best programs for club racers, autocrossers and pros. Mazdaspeed announced that many of the changes will take place in the submittal process. The organization requires all participants to submit a photo of them in driver suit, without a helmet, while wearing a Mazda patch on the chest pocket area. This program is considered to be one of the best contingency programs in the world, with payouts. Depending on their class and entry, racers can receive up to $800 for a SCCA Divisional points championship or Major Tour win, $1500 for a NASA regional championship and $5000 for an SCCA National Championship Runoffs win. Mazda has Big Plans for 2015 Chicago Auto Show

At this year’s Chicago Auto Show, Mazda plans to blow their fans out of the water! The automaker’s show booth will be filled with new concept models, accessories and activities for everyone. This year Mazda will take the covers off its 2016 MX-5 accessories design concept model, which was designed to preview the accessories that will be available to future 2016 MX-5 owners. They will host a number of activities throughout the duration of the show. In a recent press release the automaker revealed that they would treat attendees to live ESPN Radio broadcasts, live autograph signings with NHL legend Jeremy Roenick, former Chicago Bulls star Stacey King and former Rookie of the Year and All-Star Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood.
